Emtree is EMBASE's thesarus

According to Getting Started with Embase 101 - Searching with Emtree,

"Emtree is used to index all of the Embase content."  This process includes:

  • full-text indexing of journal articles
  • done by biomedical experts
  • consistent descriptions of biomedical information
  • offer searchers a unique and comprehensive vocabulary to describe biomedical data

The Emtree thesaurus is:

  • hierarchically structured 
  • controlled vocabulary for biomedicine and related life sciences
  • includes a whole range of terms for drugs, diseases, medical devices and essential life science concepts
