Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Services: General Information

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services are available to all TTUHSC library account holders requesting physical books, electronic journal articles, and photocopies of journal articles not available through the TTUHSC Libraries. When you request an item, we send your request to other libraries throughout the United States that participate in ILL. If the item is available for loan, they will mail or email us a copy of the item. 

Requests made after 4:00 PM (CT) are processed the following business day except in clinical emergencies. All requests received after 5:00 PM (CT) on weekdays, weekends, or holidays, will be processed the next business day. 

Digital materials from other libraries are normally received within 2-5 business days for routine requests. Physical books are mailed and may take a few weeks to arrive. Students are encouraged to take into consideration the amount of time to receive an item through ILL while working on their assignments. 

Clinical emergency/patient care requests are processed immediately with the goal of one hour turnaround time. Such requests are reserved for those who need materials to provide immediate patient-emergency care. Digital requests will be prioritized. Physical books are mailed and may take a few weeks to arrive. 

Patrons are notified by phone or email when items are received.

Routine ILL requests for TTUHSC facutly, staff, and students are free. Clinical emergency requests are $10 per article. Payment may be by cash, check, or debit/credit card.
