MIDS 8420: 

Thinking in 3D - An Introduction to 3D Printing and Medical Imaging

Course Description:

This two-week elective is designed to provide the fourth-year medical student with the basic competencies in 3D printing. To define the purpose of the 3D printed object in medicine, students will learn how to segment and 3D print using medical imaging, explore the historical roots of 3D printing, and apply certain forms of idea generation. Registration is through the School of Medicine.

HPOT 5317:

3D Printing Module for Occupational Therapy

Module Description:
Students can submit their projects using the following link: 3D Print Requests
Printing fee: $5.00 + tax
  • Payments will be processed when the student collects the finished print.
  • Credit Cards only, the library no longer accepts cash payments.
  • Students will be notified by email when their print is ready for pick up.
Print Submission Deadline: March 9, 2022
  • For prints that require assembly:
    • We can assist with assembly, if needed.
    • Students need to supply their own hardware.
  • Pick up for completed models will be Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Essential Practices in Segmentation

Workshop Description:

This workshop provides a window into the segmentation and 3D printing process.   Participants will learn how to slice and 3D print a heart segment that represents the parasternal long-axis ultrasound view.  The workshop lasts one hour and we have spaces for up to 20 students. Using the absurd to find Innovation in Medicine

Workshop Description:

In this one hour workshop,  students will learn about the long and winding path that is the history of 3D printing, current 3D printing medical practices, and how to think like an artist. By drawing connections between the history of artistic genius, scientific innovation, and current uses of 3D printing in medicine, students work together to reformulate existing practices by pushing them to the absurd.
